Thursday update

Hi from Kate...

Dawn from Hospice called with an update on Papa. She did not see him today, but an aide, Katherine saw him...and called Dawn somewhat concerned that Papa's stomach was quite distended. Dawn was calling another nurse out to check Papa out, and said she would keep me posted. She said this is another step in Papa's kidney failure...indicating his stomach is filling with fluid. She asked if we could buy Papa some more sweat pants, as he won't be able to fit into his button up/zip up pants. I am planning on going shopping for them after my babysitting kids get picked up at 5pm tonight. I'll bring them over tonight or tomorrow.

I asked what we should expect next. Dawn said his hands, ankles and face would swell again as the edema becomes worse. She did not indicate any type of timeline and was very calm through the conversation.

Big sigh...that's all for now.

Love,

Kate

Note from Tish: Thanks for update Kate. I know we were told what to expect, but it's breaking my heart...poor Papa. Thanks for buying sweat pants Kate. Let me know if you are not successful finding...I will be shopping at Kohl's this weekend, and can pick up some sweats also.

Also, will be going over to Lit's & Bob's on Saturday, so will see you then.

Love, T.

Hi guys

Margaret here. Kate, I got Papa two pairs of sweat pants and will take them over tomorrow afternoon. Once I confirm the correct sizing, I can pick up more or will let you guys know what size to pursue. I just hope we can keep Papa as comfortable as possible.

I spent a very long, but productive day today getting qualified for medicare coverage (again - and I will get reimbursed the $600 on medical costs in April), food stamps and cash assistance. Tomorrow I have to go back (hopefully for a much shorter visit) to tie up a couple of loose ends.

After that I have to go help out in Mikey's classroom.

Then I will take Papa his pants.

I will not be at Lita and Bob's this weekend (I did see their new place earlier this week - I like how light and airy it is). Instead, I will be visiting Ken this weekend (without the boys). I hope you guys have fun helping Liti set the place up. I'll be inspecting your work next week.

Hi from Fran...

Thanks for the update Kate. This
is so heartbreaking. I also just
read the short emails between you
and Mary regarding mama. That too
is heartbreaking. I am sorry I am not there to help with them and with Liata's and Bob's move this weekend. Big, big sigh.

Love to all,

Fran
